Faith, Family, & Finish

We’ve come full circle. From fruit to time, mentors to sacrifice, passion to resilience, growth to legacy, mornings to meaning. The thread through it all is this: what we build isn’t for us alone. This six-month journey has been about reflection, but not for its own sake. It’s been about serving, staying steady, and multiplying forward.
The Masters gives us a picture of this moment. Jim Nantz will soon say those iconic words: “A tradition unlike any other.” Crowds will gather, azaleas will bloom, and another chapter of golf’s story will unfold. It’s fitting this series closes now. Just as the Masters signals the start of a new golf season, this marks the moment to put into practice what we’ve been building toward.
Faith is my North Star. It steadies me when the path is unclear, humbles me when ego creeps in, and reminds me my worth isn’t in wins or losses, but in who I belong to.
Family is the mirror. Careers rise and fall, but family shows us who we really are when the spotlight is off. It’s where boundaries get tested, integrity gets revealed, and love gets practiced.
And finish. Finish isn’t about applause. It’s about faithfulness.
Paul wrote: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Finishing well isn’t just endurance. It’s faithfulness over time. It’s knowing we stewarded fruit, time, mentors, passion, growth, and legacy in a way that actually nourished others.
Put It Into Practice (This Week)
Work: Decide one non-negotiable for how you want to finish this six-month stretch. Make it reflect consistency and integrity.
Home: Mark this finish with your family and friends. Share one takeaway and how you’re going to live it out with them.
Mentorship: Pass along one lesson from the last six months to a younger professional who needs it right now.
Leadership: Remind your team of the bigger purpose behind the work. Connect their daily effort to the long race.
Personal audit: Write this sentence: “When people tell my story, I hope they say I finished by ____.” Let that shape your choices today.
A Closing Invitation
Here’s mine: my priorities are clear. Faith first. Family second. Calling third.
Over these past six months, I’ve tried to live and write from that order. As the golf season begins, I’m committing again to finish with faith steady, family strong, and calling intact. That means protecting time, serving PGA Members with clarity, and keeping perspective.
Your turn: what does finishing well look like in this season, and what’s one choice you can make today to move toward it?
Thank you for walking through this six-month journey with me. My hope is that it gave you clarity, encouragement, and perspective.
As we head into the season, I’ll shift to monthly releases: May 1, June 1, July 1, August 1, and September 1. Then, beginning October 1, we’ll return to every two weeks.
Until then, may your faith be steady, your family strong, and your calling lived fully.
I’ll see you on May 1. Happy Masters Week.
