“Life is a journey, not a destination.”-Ralph Waldo Emerson

In my last post, I talked about the importance of looking in the rear-view mirror to reflect upon your greatest successes. Now we look ahead, with a New Year bringing new possibilities. The “journey” that Emerson speaks of in the quote above is unique for everyone…a journey they will navigate with the help of family, friends, colleagues, and mentors.

Your chosen career path is but one facet of that journey, and I believe that when we broaden our focus from simply professional development to personal AND professional development, we reach that sweet spot where your actions are intentional and always directed towards your goals. In short, it provides the opportunity for you to become the best version of yourself.

I am not talking about New Years resolutions, because they don’t work. Typical resolutions are reactions to things we don’t like when we look in the mirror. The problem with that approach is that we should embrace that person instead of rejecting them, acknowledging what makes us unique, and make tangible plans to become our ideal self.

That process is intentional Personal & Professional Development, and is for anyone who wants to align the work they do to their values, gain new skills, level up in their current role, or simply feel more in control of their future. I realize that the journey will look and feel different for each person, and that the cadence of the development will change with the seasons of life and stages of your careers.

It is for that reason that I sought out the proper platform to provide support, guidance, and counsel for those who wish to push forward to realize what they are capable of. From that goal, the online version of the Personal & Professional Development Model was created. Through this guided process, I believe you can take another step in the direction of becoming the best possible version of yourself.  I also believe that act will lead to career success, personal achievement, and fulfillment both personally and professionally.

It is my hope that you will decide to click the link below, as I know that you will be amazed at what you can accomplish in 2019.

Here. We. Go.

The name of this blog, Sole in the Soil, carries layers of meaning. Sole plays on soul, a reflection of faith, and the saving grace of Jesus Christ who redeems our souls. It is a nod to my affinity for sneakers, too, symbols of creativity and personality. Soil speaks to the fairways where golf is lived and felt, and to the richer soil of life itself, where faith is planted, family grows, and legacy takes root.
